On January 1, 2018, the Revised Uniform Unclaimed Property Act (765 ILCS 1026) took effect and the Uniform Disposition of Unclaimed Property Act (765 ILCS 1025) was repealed.  The Treasurer’s Office recently filed proposed rules which provide guidance regarding the implementation of the Illinois Revised Uniform Unclaimed Property Act as adopted by the General Assembly through Public Acts 100-22 and 100-566. The 45-day public comment period for these proposed rules ends on November 12, 2018.  A public hearing will be held on October 18, 2018 to allow members of the public to provide oral testimony regarding the proposed rules.
